Job Description
The Vice President is responsible for patient care by providing leadership over multiple emergency department and/or inpatient care teams. Working primarily with medical directors, regional APP Directors, nursing leadership, and hospital administration to ensure the patient care delivery model achieves high quality outcomes. This role is accountable for key patient and operational metrics and the overall financial performance of their divisional sites. As the leader the VP is also responsible for creating an inclusive work environment, providing performance coaching, recognition and career guidance to their teams, as well as, developing a pipeline of talent for the organization

Coaches and mentors current and future leaders. Ensuring adequate succession planning of both site leadership and medical group senior leadership.

Establishes a process for and leads the recruitment of qualified medical directors and participates in the recruitment of qualified providers.

Maintains knowledge of facility human resources (HR) policies and procedures and works with HR and legal teams.

Coaches directors in effective management of HR activities (hiring, firing, disciplinary, etc).

Identifies and participates in, and/or provides opportunities for ongoing, focused education courses for/by the site leadership and staff, as appropriate to the staff, patient population and facility needs.

Participates in content preparation and presentation of new strategies and goals. This may include participation in additional teaching or supervisory responsibilities as they exist in teaching facilities.

Leverages talent tools, data and processes effectively at a regional scale such as NPS and Workday.
Clinical and Operations

Monitors patient experience and patient flow. Designs and implements process improvement strategies to improve and optimize these areas across their sites.

Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the regions financial and operational performance.

Ensures clinical, operational, risk management and financial performance achieves or exceeds expectations.

Ensures staffing and operational models support hospital and USACS clinical and financial goals.

Ensures site Quality and Risk Management activities are producing expected performance.

Educates site leadership on regulatory issues and requirements.

Participates in business development activities.

Communicates the value proposition of USACS clinical operational initiatives and facilitates resources required to promote and operationalize new operations programs.

Monitors applicable regulatory issues and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.

Assists and facilitates preparation for and participates in accreditation or certification surveys involving the direct care sites or units.

Participates in risk management activities including communication with facility legal representative(s) concerning relevant departmental issues. Works with staff to identify and mitigate areas of high risk.

Participates in risk management strategy development and implementation.
Relationships

Builds relationships with customers at all levels - Focuses on meeting the needs of our health system partners including current service delivery and expansion into other service lines.

Ensures site‐level leadership performance is within expectations of hospital leadership.

Ensures hospital leadership satisfaction with USACS and continuation of contractual relationship.

Investigates and responds to operational performance, patient care and USACS personnel (physicians or APPs) issues raised by hospital leadership.

Ensures effective communication of strategy and execution between USACS and local clinical team (physicians and APPs).

Ensures effective communication of strategy and execution between USACS and local hospital teams (nursing, hospital leadership and medical staff).
