Plant Engineer/ Maintenance Manager
The Maintenance Manager works directly with the Plant Manager. This position is responsible for planning, scheduling, and assigning day to day activities. They must have technical skills and knowledge of various: pumps, compressors, boilers, and other equipment, PLC’s, control valves, mechanical, electrical equipment. In addition this position is a working Manager, performing maintenance tasks along with the team.
Responsibilities:
- Managing the work order process. Assigning work orders and capturing breakdown work orders in the system. Verifying work order completion in the field. Assisting Maintenance Techs with PM’s and breakdown repairs. Includes building, grounds, equipment, tank farm, nitrogen supply, and support systems.
- Managing third party providers / contractors for services: Forklift maintenance, Fire suppression system inspections and maintenance, Alarm systems, Pest control, Recycling packaging waste.
- Managing small capital projects: Small scope, with work done primarily through contractors.
- Bulk Tank Farm Operations: Manage Tank Farm Operator.
- Managing MRO spend for maintenance activities.
- Ability to direct 2-3 members of the maintenance team.
Essential Requirements:
Education: Electrical Maintenance coursework with certification.
PLC troubleshooting and programming education with certification.
Experience: Minimal 5 year's experience in chemical manufacturing or processing environment. Experience managing hourly maintenance technicians is ideal, but not required. Consideration will be given for candidates with strong manufacturing experience, provided they demonstrate a high potential to grasp VCS operations quickly. Experience with formal safety systems as well as standard quality systems like ISO, TS, or 16949 also a plus.
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, PLC troubleshooting preferred. Demonstrated ability to use maintenance tracking software to capture preventative as well as breakdown maintenance activities. Experience managing small ($500k) capital projects through contractors and local resources (no engineering design experience required.) Experience maintaining storage tanks, blend tanks, pumps, fillers, conveyors, and packaging equipment strongly preferred.
Expectations:
- Spend 50%+ time on the floor assisting with PM’s, breakdowns, change overs, and trouble shooting.
- Spend adequate time on contractor management, maintenance system upkeep, email communications, etc.
- Have the ability to trouble-shoot PLC and Electrical issues in a manufacturing environment.
- Work closely with other departments to support functions and delegate PM’s tracked in the system.
- Manage the Maintenance team to all workplace standards.
- Attendance, workplace rules, overtime management, etc.
Work Environment
· Temperature extremes.
· Proximity to, and frequent use of, moving powered equipment and forklifts.
· Exposure to dust and fumes.
