We are currently seeking a BILINGUAL FULL-TIME medical assistant with a VALID NCT in a fast-paced orthopedic surgeon’s office, who can start ASAP.
Job descriptions:
- Greets patients and escorts them from the waiting room to exam rooms; prepares patients for exam or treatment
- Take necessary x-rays by physician's orders
- Puts charts up for physicians when the patient is ready in the exam room
- Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments
- Assists physicians in preparing for examinations and minor procedures
- Pre-certifies outgoing referrals, if appropriate
- Schedules tests and off-site procedures when necessary
- Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization
- Disposes of contaminated items according to OSHA guidelines
- Obtains and handles injectables and other procedures
- Enters patient demographic information into the computerized lab ordering system
- Performs patient education when appropriate
- Replenishes supplies—stocks and cleans exam rooms
- Takes medical stock inventory and communicates supply shortages to Supply Manager
- Ensures that laboratory samples are picked up by the reference laboratory daily
- Cleans and closes down equipment at the end of the day
- Directs lab results to physician for review and treatment plan
Other
- Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice
- Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions
- Attends all regular meetings
- Performs all other tasks and projects assigned by the immediate supervisor or manager
Location: Primary location in Kaufman, TX with flexible support coverage to our Sunnyvale, TX office.
Work hours: In Kaufman: Monday through Thursday, 8am to 5pm/last patient. In Sunnyvale: Friday 8am to 5pm/last patient. Typically, 1 hour lunch daily for approximately 40 hours per week.

Qualification: must have great customer service skills; Must have valid NCT, must be able to work independently and as a team; comfortable using emails and texts and interacting with internet applications; basic knowledge about insurance is preferred; must be able to type at least 40 wpm; must possess basic knowledge of Microsoft and computer skills; BILINGUAL in Spanish and English is preferred; past experience in medical offices is preferred; possess pleasant speaking voice and demeanor and neat and professional appearance; Flexibility; Ability to work at both locations is mandatory.
