Job Description Summary:
The Finance Analyst is responsible for accounting and finance functions related to activities of the Central Accounting & Reporting Office and Central Budget Office.
Responsible for budgeting, forecasting, long-range strategic planning support, reconciling, financial analysis, support in policy development, and variance monitoring. Provides support to leadership for Executive Vice Chancellor budget oversight and the financial input and assumptions used in the long-term strategic plan of the University.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, or related field. Experience may substitute on a year for year basis.
Work Experience:
- Three years in an accounting, budget or related field preparing financial statements.

Experience working with complex financial accounting systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience:
- Finance experience in university/higher education financial systems.

Implementation experience with Workday or similar Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
Job Duties
- Analyst for the Executive Leadership offices: Chancellor, General Counsel, Executive Vice Chancellor, Institutional Operations, Institutional Strategic, Vice Chancellor Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Vice Chancellor of Research. This entails annual budgeting, funding, granting, gifting, reporting, analyzing, and all other maintenance related to these cost centers. It also requires strong communication and relationships with stakeholders.

Works with other team members in the Central Budget Office with budgeting, analyzing and maintenance of other cost centers as needed.

Responsible for all maintenance, including budgeting and reporting, related to Endowment funds.

Report and monitor spending on each endowment fund on a quarterly basis.

Reconcile endowment balances between Endowment Accounting system and Workday (accounting system)

Reconcile balances of endowment funds to Adaptive at least quarterly.

Work closely with Areas (i.e. SOM, SON and SHP) to effectively maximize the spending of Endowment funds required to be used for a specific purpose.

Responsible for budgeting and reporting of Faculty of Distinction Funds (FDF). Report and monitor spending on a monthly basis, including 5 external reports each year. Reconcile to Adaptive at least quarterly. Work closely with Areas (i.e. SOM, SON and SHP) to support maximized spending required for a specific purpose.

Reconciliation SHP billing to Adaptive monthly.

Maintains the 5-year plan.

Maintenance of changes to the block allocation budget.

Assist Central Budget Office Team with annual IBARS report and all other State budget reporting.

Procure and maintain strong relationships with State, Endowment, KU-Lawrence budget and other external budgeting and reporting personnel.

Advise personnel with proposed "Institutional Funding Request" documents including follow up and clarification of information.

Preparation of tuition plan to KBOR and reporting of tuition expenses.

Complete a monthly reconciliation of Workday (accounting system) to Adaptive (budget system)

Develop, implement, and monitor best practices. Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service, including make suggestions for automating processes and increasing working efficiency.

Foster positive strategic relationships with a variety of campus business partners and departments across the organization on a wide spectrum of administrative and fiscal issues to develop recommendations and strategic solutions.

Supports high-level analysis on a wide variety of topics.

Gathering and analyzing financial information to evaluate and monitor certain functions of the University.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
