The Career Planning Specialist is a full-time, 12-month position responsible to the Director, Career Education Services. This position is essential to the onboarding of our prospective students and vital throughout various phases of their career development process during their time at TJC. By utilizing resources including assessments, workshops and collateral information to help students make informed decisions, this position aids students in becoming more knowledgeable and empowered regarding choice of major and career options related to their personal and professional goals.
Primary Responsibilities

Guide, advise, and support students through the career planning, decision making, and job search processes.

Utilizing various tools for assessment, help students identify their interests and skills to aid in the selection of a major, determine a career direction, develop career goals and successfully complete college.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student meetings and all program activity.

Provide services to help students see the connection between coursework and careers

Assist with Summer Orientation and Preview Day by making presentations to parents and students about Career Planning.

Assist in promoting various TJC student populations about job opportunities.
Additional Job Specific Requirements-
Understanding of the higher education student services experience and how to best assist students with identifying and aligning self-awareness aspects and goals with college and career options.

Skills using technology and resources that assist students with the development of self-awareness and knowledge of occupational data resources, including but not limited to the usage of email, text, internet, Microsoft Office Suite, and career assessment platforms.

Ability to contribute to a student-focused team culture that delivers excellent customer service while building positive professional partnerships with students, parents, and community members.
