Western Motorcoach is a full-service motorcoach transportation company providing transportation solutions to companies and individuals for many years, has an immediate need for both full-time and part-time experienced Diesel Mechanics based in Houston.
Position performs diagnostic and repair work, including scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to diesel engines, motorcoaches, and other fleet vehicles. Position works with a high degree of independence. Position also requires a number of physical movements including lifting, pinching, bending, reaching, climbing, and manipulating and handling objects. This position requires that you have your own basic hand tools; diagnostic, ergonomic, and high-tech equipment will be provided. Due to the scope and variety of Western Motorcoach's fleet, our department includes a variety of positions and job opportunities, ranging from entry-level to master technicians; 3-5 years of relevant work experience are required for this experienced-level position.
Mechanic Responsibilities, Duties & Qualifications
- Proficient in advanced diagnostics and repair of HVAC, air brakes, body, electrical, and engine diagnostics and repairs with minimal errors.
- Makes sounds decisions, prioritizes workflow, and pays attention to details with minimal supervision.
- Additional training programs are available
- Position is safety sensitive
- required tasks include preventive maintenance inspections, emergency and road failure repairs, and general maintenance on electrical, HVAC, brake and accessory systems.
- Wheelchair lift experience is helpful
- Mechanics must own basic hand tools
- Understanding of diesel engines, tires, air brake systems, HVAC systems, and electrical systems, and be able to perform necessary preventative maintenance and repair in all aspects.
- Proficient in the use of maintenance software to complete all paperwork in a timely and thorough manner.
- Demonstrates safe and sensible work practices while maintaining a clean and organized work environment throughout the shop.
- Provides and maintains all necessary tools and uses all company-provided tools in a responsible manner.
- Performs facility maintenance as required.
- Consistently strives to learn new skills and solve problems.
- Willingly assists other mechanics, both in home market and in other locations, sometimes requiring travel to other company facilities.

Mechanic Requirements
- Mechanic must have previous experience in maintenance and repair or technical training work on buses and diesel-powered vehicles
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
- ASE Certified is Preferred
- Must have a valid Driver's License
Physical Demands:
- Able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Stand, sit, squat, and lay for extended periods.
- Able to perform duties in inclement weather as necessary.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

Experience:
- Motorcoach or Bus: 1 year (Preferred)
