Job Summary:
Carolina University is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our company's databases (especially Jenzabar) to ensure optimal performance and data integrity.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and actively advance the Carolina University Vision and Mission and be committed to CU goals for strategic growth and scalability
- Design data models to boost database performance and scalability by analyzing access patterns and refining efficiency
- Enforce security measures to safeguard sensitive data from unauthorized access, alteration, or deletion through user account setup, data encryption, and policy enforcement
- Establish backup and recovery protocols to uphold data integrity and reduce downtime during system failures or disasters, including regular backups and replication
- Monitor database performance to pinpoint bottlenecks or inefficiencies, optimize SQL queries, and configure parameters for peak performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues like performance glitches, data corruption, or system errors by collaborating with the IT Coordinator for swift resolution
- Document database setups, procedures, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity, alongside offering training and support to relevant parties.
- Ensure database compliance with regulations, standards, and industry practices by conducting audits, implementing access controls, and maintaining audit trails.
- Present data in compelling charts and graphs.
- Assume additional responsibilities as determined by the IT Coordinator.
Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area or equivalent work experience in a similar role
- A desire to work in a Christian institution
- At least one year of experience directly related to the specified responsibilities
- Knowledge of Salesforce and Jenzabar (or similar databases) a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with various domestic and international students from around the world and various cultures
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare accurate and attractive reports
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations
- Skill and willingness to work with the team to develop and implement new strategies and procedures in harmony with the University’s Administration
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement short-term and long-term goals
- Ability to both work with a team and make decisions independently
- Ability to multi-task and remain organized
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Commitment to consistent Monday-Friday, 8-5 on-campus office hours with the understanding that some circumstances may occasionally require assistance at other times.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Entra, Google Workspace, and Windows Active Directory
- Ability to learn new software as necessary
