We are looking for a strategic and dynamic leader to partner with branch and distribution management to profitably grow the Los Angeles territory, Pacific, Southwest and Midwest Regions for Commercial Insurance Property & Casualty book of business – leading the Entertainment Industry Practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the profit, growth and fostering of internal and external relationships of a Commercial Insurance book within the Los Angeles branch territory and key branches in the Pacific (San Francisco, San Ramon), Southwest (Dallas, Austin) and Midwest Regions (Chicago). Directly accountable for the Entertainment P&C branch underwriting operation and results, including driving new business production and retention efforts for all which are cored locally.
Major Job Functions:
- Profit & Loss – Accountability (premium, profitability, growth, retention, and expense plans / results) for the Entertainment Industry Practice in Los Angeles and assigned territories.
- Portfolio & Line of Business Management – Direct profit and loss responsibility of the Entertainment practice; coordination, agency management, and production responsibility; coordination and collaboration with P&C underwriting Center (Phoenix) and Whitehouse Station, N.J. (Home Office).
- Underwriting Strategy Execution – Manage execution of new Entertainment business and key renewals.
- Technical Underwriting / Referral Resource - In collaboration with Home Office Industry Practice leaders, serve as a Technical resource and underwriting authority. Become the point of contact for branch risks which fall outside of field authority; coordinate efforts with Home Office, Product Managers, and Industry Practice Leaders.
- Quality Assurance - Monitors underwriting quality.
- Marketplace Focus – Develop opportunities particular to the marketplace and provide customized approaches on market conditions and agency needs.
- Marketing Strategy and Execution – Works closely with Field Operations (Branch Manager & Marketing Managers) on development and execution of marketing strategy and coordinates marketing and production activities within assigned territories for Entertainment business.
- Business Development – Directs business development activities and provides guidance for implement sales and/or product launches
- Producer management – Primary responsibility for managing local / regional producer plant; responsibility for cohesive and consistent agency management strategies across assigned locations. Collaborate with Branch Managers, Marketing Managers and CI Managers to identify opportunities in support of CI plans. Facilitates product education / appetite; serves as point person for key local producer relationships.
- Budget and Expense Administration - Oversees business and budget planning for all business produced within assigned territories. Ensure effective expense administration.
- Talent management (including Performance Management and Compensation) – Accountable for new hire on-boarding, training and developing, succession planning, culture of inclusion, coaching, mentoring and retention of staff. Ensure effective deployment of staff for assigned territories. Maintain mentoring / succession relationships with several High Potential Senior Underwriters. Oversee workflows, staffing resources, and appropriate application of technology to ensure efficient, cost-effective field operations. Collaborate with Human Resources on performance management and compensation process.

Knowledge of Entertainment industries is a plus
Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience. Prior management experienced preferred. Minimum 7-10 years of underwriting experience
The pay range for the role is $102,000 to $168,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
