Job Description:
The Prep Cook is responsible for assisting in the preparation of meals by chopping vegetables, creating salads, and assisting put together entries based on menu order. The Prep Cook will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment that is compliant with the California Health District regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-2 years’ recent experience relevant to this position is preferred.
- Must exhibit a focused attention to detail, while working in a high-pressure environment.
- Possess the ability to work as part of a team.
- Must be self-motivated to see tasks through to completion.
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy trays and equipment in addition to handling delicate objects, such as glassware, without damage.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment as outlined by the Health District.
- Must be fluent in the English language, both written and oral. Multilingual skills are a plus.
- Understands and enforces federal, state, and local food sanitation regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to).
- Food preparation, chopping vegetables, making salads, and putting together entrees.
- Ensuring that food is properly stored.
- Performing kitchen maintenance; emptying the trash, mopping floors, and washing dishes.
- Learns and adheres to the designated cooking methods to assist in preparing the appropriate menu items consistently.
- Strives to learn to improve cooking skills and expands knowledge about food products and techniques.
- Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
- Performs additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager at any time
- PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIORNMENT:
- Must be able to stand or walk a minimum eight-hour shift.
- Must be able to twist, tow (push or pull), reach, bend climb, and carry objects as necessary
- Must be neat and clean in appearance and physically fit to perform the duties required
- Must be able to bend, pull, and carry bar stock to refrigerators and cabinets.
- Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds and manually push/pull up to 150 pounds.
- Must be able to use hand motion when cleaning and wiping counters and surfaces.
- Must be able to listen and respond to visual and aural cues.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment in the presence of areas containing secondhand smoke, high noise levels, dancing, bright lights, and dust and communicate during this time – sometimes within a small area

Pay: $20.00 - $21.50 per hour
