As a Tour Guide at Illuminarium Chicago, you will play a crucial role in ensuring guests have an informative and engaging experience. You will provide insights into the background and production of our immersive shows, including the "Wild" and "Space" exhibits. Your enthusiasm and knowledge will enhance the overall excitement and appreciation of the venue for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guided Tours: Conduct informative and engaging tours, providing guests with an overview of the exhibits, including the "Wild" and "Space" shows.
- Customer Service: Address guest inquiries and provide assistance to ensure a positive experience.
- Educational Information: Share detailed information about the creation, technology, and storytelling aspects of the immersive experiences.
- Audience Engagement: Maintain an energetic and welcoming demeanor, engaging guests of all ages.
- Safety and Accessibility: Ensure the safety and comfort of guests, including those with special needs or accessibility requirements.
- Feedback Collection: Gather feedback from guests to help improve the overall experience.
- Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on new exhibits and enhancements to current shows.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; performing higher education in hospitality, tourism, performing arts or a related field is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, such as a tour guide, docent, or customer service representative, is preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and engagingly.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with diverse groups of people.
- Passion for Entertainment: A genuine interest in immersive entertainment and a passion for sharing knowledge.
- Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and navigate various areas of the venue.
