JANSON has an immediate need for a Communications Specialist in the Orlando area. This is a full-time, hybrid position with an expectation to work 3 days a week in the office and the remainder from your home office. There is 50% required travel.
This position requires a professional who can work successfully in a fast-paced customer environment and is skilled in all aspects of Communications. The ideal candidate will excel in a team environment yet bring forward a decisive personality to successfully engage with peers and senior government officials. . DoD experience is required.
JOB DUTIES:
- Be responsible for the oversight, development and execution of strategic public affairs programs and campaigns leveraging all available communications conduits and emerging technologies to most effectively communicate the PEO STRI mission and philosophy.
- Recommend strategies to facilitate understanding and support from industry, other federal agencies, congress, the general public, the Army Acquisition community and the Army as a whole, via a wide range of communication media.
- Supports client planning and preparation for major events, conferences, and media engagement
- Recommends communication strategies and plans designed to achieve client goals and objectives
- Provides written articles, press releases, or photos in support of programs
- Proactive in seeking out story opportunities that advance the strategic narrative
- Experience translating complex, technical subject matter for non-technical audiences
- Experience drafting talking points, written articles, and marketing content
- Experience supporting senior leaders and General Officers
- Must be able to map messages and content development for all products, exhibits, and graphics
- Support Strategic Communications by communicating information through verbal, written and social/digital media channels, and serving to align messaging across all internal/external channels
- Advise and implement communication strategies that leverage emerging technologies and best practices that meet industry standards.
- Assist in the production of video and multimedia presentations.
- Use a variety of methods and techniques in achieving communication goals such as: social/digital media content, product exhibits, brochures, pamphlets, and graphics.
- Plan, develop, conduct, and provide metrics of social/digital media channels.
- Manage daily social media and provide real-time responses to questions
- Provide quarterly reports and as-needed metrics analysis for social media
- Create wire frames, rapid prototypes, user interfaces, and comp designs
- Design layout and templates for maximum usability and focus on user experience
- Design new landing pages and visual mock-ups for website enhancements.
- Develop content for short-form social media videos.
- Develop social media calendars and plans that contain approved messaging and themes supporting desired client outcomes.
- Development of social media campaign plans to highlight products, events, and messaging.
- Responsible for developing content across owned and earned social channels. This could include blog posts, tweets, status updates, pins, photos, and videos.
- Must be a self-starter, highly motivated individual that works well with a team and adapts to dynamic environment changes
- Strong technology skills, including experience using MS Office products, MS Project (or equivalent), web browsers and other technology resources
- Other duties as needed in support of JANSON
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications or related field
- 5+ years of supporting high level staff
- 3+ years of experience as a Communications Specialist
- Security Clearance Preferred (Secret)
- Experience developing and executing communication planning and message functions that drive communication service and product development
- Experience providing public affairs guidance as it relates to the Army
- Experience conducting video and multimedia presentations
- Experience developing and executing communication planning and message functions that drive communication service and product development
- Experience with social media platforms, including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Google+.
- Experience leveraging social media management and analytics tools.
- Experience writing, editing, and crafting content for the social media space.
- Exceptional organizational and planning abilities
- Strong client engagement skills and team player mentality
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Strong technology skills, including experience using MS Office products, MS Project (or equivalent), web browsers, etc.
