AFC Urgent Care is currently seeking energetic, driven and team oriented Medical Assistants who have good communication, attention to detail, and who focus on high quality patient care. The job entails compassionately assisting our patients and supporting our providers in order to serve our patients with both exceptional and efficient medical care.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
The duties will be performed in accordance to policy and procedure, standard of care, and in accordance of state certification.The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assisting staff physician on duty with patient care as requested.
- Maintaining efficient and organized patient flow.
- Performing patient triage by taking vital signs of newly registered patients.
- Escorting patients to exam rooms that are setup based on patient's initial complaint.
- Performing point of care diagnostic tests.
- Maintain all daily logs: Document all requests and results of lab work accurately.
- Perform daily quality control and cleaning procedures according to guidelines.
- Documenting relevant patient data into electronic medical records.
- Completing all charts and medical records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collecting biological specimens and processing them in the laboratory.
- Respond to all patient messages: documenting conversations in electronic medical records system.
- Performing pharmacy and CLIA approved lab procedures, maintenance and controls.
- Tracking and re-stocking all necessary urgent care supplies and medications.
- Properly start lab equipment daily: Perform maintenance on equipment as scheduled.
- Ensuring all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Discharging patients with detailed instructions.
- Following proper protocols and conducting patient call-backs.
- Ensuring exam rooms and working areas are cleaned following each patient visit.
- Ensuring patient flow is timely and organized, prioritizing appropriately.
- Respond promptly to patient needs, provide excellent customer service, assist patients as necessary. Maintain awareness of comfort and needs of all patients.
- Ensuring cleanliness of the center at all times.
- Adhering to all center policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant Certification or Associate Degree.
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced setting.
- At least one year of medical experience in a urgent care, emergency medicine or family practice perfected.
- Able to perform phlebotomy.
- Understanding of the concepts of universal precautions, HIPAA, and OSHA.
- Prior urgent care or emergency room experience a plus.
- Active and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Familiar with occupational medicine and travel medicine a plus.
- Effective and compassionate communicator with co-workers, patients and family.
- High-energy individual with a professional appearance and attitude.
- Ensure patient immunizations are appropriate, well documented and administered using approved nursing techniques.
- Team-player able to multi-task effectively.
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working with electronic medical records.
