Metro Ambulance has been serving Essex, Bergen, and Passaic counties since 2014 providing medical transportation to our community.
The ideal candidate:
- Active NJ EMT / NREMT certification
- Active NJ MAVO certification
- Current CPR certification from an accredited healthcare provider
- Current, valid Driver’s License
- Dispatchers preferably with experience, although not required
Job Requirements:
- Coordinate the work and activities of EMTs
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch calls in CAD system.
- Dispatch ambulances to scheduled runs, while ensuring the appropriate level of care is effectively rendered to the patient(s).
- Intake a large call volume and triage efficiently to determine appropriate level of care.
- Ensure your road staff gather patient billing information and appropriate billing signatures.
- Must be an initiative taker.
- Must always conduct yourself in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner at all times when assisting patients, co-workers, and supervisors, with the goal of providing top-tier customer service to our contracted facilities, our patients, and the general public.
- Must be a team player, who is flexible, understanding that the EMS field operates on a 24-hour clock. Your schedule may vary weekly, within reason, based off the needs of the company.

Additional qualifications:
- Tech-savvy with knowledge of computer-aided dispatch software (CAD)
- Fast typing with experience in data entry
- Knowledge of procedures and guidelines for various emergency situations
- Proficient in English (oral and written)
- Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities
- Active listener with excellent communication skills
- Sound judgment and critical thinking
Available shifts:
- Day, afternoon, and evening shifts. Monday thru Saturday.
- Saturday, Sunday, & Holiday Shifts on a rotating schedule
In cases of emergency, Dispatch is required to help field operations by assisting in transporting patients.
- Lift, lower, bend, twist, and raise their arms above their head without difficulty
- Stand on your feet for times in excess of 30 minutes without difficulty
- Sit in a chair for times in excess of 30 minutes without difficulty
- Remain calm, cool & collected under stressful situations without further complicating a situation
- Work alongside a partner for a 8 to 12-hour shift with a paid break
- If needed, drive up to 5 hours with breaks, throughout a shift
