The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating equipment that may include, but is not limited to forklifts, trucks, front-end loaders, 30- & 70-ton rough terrain cranes, hybrid, travel-lift and cono-lift and other pieces of equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. The position requires the successful candidate to clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed, follow policies and procedures, conduct yourself in a courteous and respectful manner, be willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done safely and efficiently, which may require some general labor work outside of equipment operations, and occasionally deal with customers.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Practice workplace safety per OSHA standards
- Operate heavy, motorized equipment in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life
- Work outdoors on location in all weather conditions and on all terrains, usually from the early morning hours until late afternoon/early evening
- May be expected to work evenings, and/or weekends
- Perform daily safety, repair and maintenance checks, ensure equipment is safely and securely stored and clean equipment as scheduled and/or required
- Keep maintenance logs updated
- Repair or assist in the repair and maintenance of the equipment and vehicles
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment including fluid and filter changes and parts lubrication, as required,
- Be able to handle physically strenuous and demanding conditions.
- Ability to work independently and to stay on top of the schedule
- Willingness to perform general labor work, when necessary
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Read and write to keep up with daily records

- Lift items of 50 pounds or more overhead
- Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned or required
