Sanborn Tube Sales, Inc is a part of the Russel Metals family of companies.
The Laser Tube Operator safely and efficiently coordinates and directly performs all warehouse functions, especially as they relate to operating shop equipment (Tube Laser).
Reports to: Operations Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cut/Inspect material to job specific criteria, using Tube Laser.
- Edit programs and tech tables to ensure the machine is producing a quality part.
- Deburr parts to job specific criteria, using fabrication equipment
- Prepare orders. Prioritize orders and plan method to complete each on a timely manner. Notify quality manager of substandard materials.
In addition, perform the following functions to ensure a safe and efficient shop to meet the customers needs:
- Operate safely at all times and point out any possible safety concerns to the appropriate person (and a supervisor when appropriate).
- Maintain equipment and building.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Training
- High school diploma or GED required. Strongly prefer high school or technical shop class experience.
Experience
- At least one year of successful performance in a shop environment.
- Able to set up and operator a tube laser.
- Previous blueprint reading and use of measuring equipment (i.e. calipers, mics, tape ect.)
- Previous forklift experience. Forklift certification helpful.
Skills and qualifications
Must Possess:
- Be safety oriented.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift, crane, micrometer, and calipers.
- Ability to visually and manually inspect materials and determine which meet Sanborn’s criteria
- Ability to regularly lift 35 lbs unassisted and heavier materials with assistance.
- Ability to manually manipulate materials, to include reaching above shoulders, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
- Ability to give and respond to verbal instruction while performing an activity (especially as it relates to safety.
- Ability to operate machinery with hands and feet
- Commitment/willingness to increase job-related knowledge and skills.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time to meet customers needs
- Must be able to effectively use typical or general office equipment such as a telephone, facsimile, computer and copy machine.
