Job Summary
We are seeking
a Preop/PACU and Recovery Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will be monitoring the care of patients who are waking up from anesthesia. You will monitor a patient’s vital signs, assess their levels of consciousness, and watch for any side effects from anesthesia. Nurses in the PACU need to be expert communicators and collaborators. You will work alongside the physician, other nurses, and medical staff, keeping them informed of any changing circumstances during the patient’s recovery. You are also responsible for communicating with the patient and their family on proper post-op care, such as when to take medications and what to do if they experience pain. As a PACU nurse you will be working in a fast-paced environment, caring for one or two patients at a time and providing expert care before transferring them to their next destination.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications to treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia.
- Monitor patients for side effects or reactions.
- Document any changes in patient conditions and report any changes.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care and discuss observations with the supervisor/physician.
- Keep patient bandages, dressings, etc. clean, dry, and safe.
- Educating patients and their families on post-surgery care, as well as answering questions.
Qualifications
- Currently licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in state of employment
- Previous experience as a PACU/Preop and Recovery Nurse is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and patient care skills
- Valid driver’s license
- ACLS Certified
