GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Addictions Counselor will work in a multidisciplinary team environment, providing frontline care to consumers in the IOP and OP programs. This position is accountable for assisting clients in the development and maintenance of healthy lifestyles and recovery management skills. This position requires a thorough understanding of the organization’s philosophy of treatment, admission process, discharge criteria and aftercare services. Extensive knowledge of substance abuse and dual diagnosis is essential. This position is responsible for ensuring that clinical and administrative services are provided for all consumers in accordance with government and accreditation regulations.
Essential Duties:

This position will be a member of the multidisciplinary team has the responsibility to carry out rehabilitation and support functions and assist in treatment; substance abuse services’ education support and consultation to the persons served.
- Maintains a caseload as assigned and in accordance with COMAR and ACHC regulations.
- Ensures incoming clients have a complete psycho-social history and comprehensive assessment and interpretative summary within 5 days of admission.
- Prepares, with client participation, a Comprehensive Treatment Plan for all persons served within 30 days of admission.
- Completes a Treatment Plan Update every 90 days following the completion of the Comprehensive Treatment Plan.
- Performs individual counseling with client on a regular basis as well as emergency intervention
- Performs Group counseling on a rotating basis as assigned by Clinical Director/Program Admin Director.
- Documents client progress and all interventions in the client record.
- Prepares an aftercare plan for all persons served completing the program or being discharged for other reasons.
- Complete discharge summaries for assigned caseload within time allotted per State regulations.
- Provides follow-up care and contact with each discharged consumer.
- Provides coordination of care of Health, housing and community services according to the Treatment Plan and individual need.
- Ensure the completion of client caseloads, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other essential documentation in accordance with applicable federal and state standards as well as agency policies and procedures
- Keep all client files updated in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Counsel patient in crisis situations by identifying patient resources and coping abilities in order to help patient cope with and take steps to resolve crisis
- Arrange referrals to other agencies and resources in the community when appropriate.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS :
· Bachelor’s degree in related human services, addictions counseling, psychology, sociology, or related health field
· Minimum of 2 years relevant Addictions counseling, Mental Health\behavioral health experience
· Demonstrated clinical knowledge of adults with addictions and co-occurring developmental disorder and complex behavioral health issues.
· Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
· Perform all duties within their scheduled work week.
· Complies with State/Federal or Certification/Licensure training requirements.
· Maintains a professional and positive attitude and approach to patients, staff and visitors
· Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with staff and support agencies.
· Must be able to relate to and work within culturally economically diverse environment.
· Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Other:
Must have a passion for working with a culturally diverse population, experience in an Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse program, Mental Health program or similar program setting; hands-on experience with electronic medical records and electronic case management systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and in a team environment, and strong computer skills are essential.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
Applicants must possess at the minimum one of the following licenses or certifications: CSC-AD, CAC-AD, LGPC, LGSW.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $26.89 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
