Rockbridge County is searching for a IT Application Specialist to perform complex technical and functional work overseeing system maintenance, backups and updates, assisting end users with support requests, system deployment and training, and related tasks as necessary or assigned.
The position is required to collaborate with County departments to create reports, develop and improve analysis and reporting capabilities, monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements and serves as a lead role in municipal system migrations and implementations.
Successful candidates must have comprehensive knowledge of effective processes, methods, and techniques to analyze and evaluate business operations; proficiency in Microsoft Office programs; ability to develop and maintain databases and to analyze problems and develop business solutions; ability to coordinate, direct and supervise systems analysis, design and programming; ability to become proficient in the use of current and new systems during migration and implementation; ability to understand informational needs and extract data from county systems; ability to utilize report writing tools such as Microsoft SQL server reporting services (SSRS) and data visualization tools such as PowerBI; ability to work independently and cooperatively to meet deadlines and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees throughout the organization; ability to identify problems and develop logical conclusions and effective, workable solutions; ability to maintain effective working relationships with County officials, vendors, associates, and the general public.
Other requirements include: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university; and three (3) years of experience utilizing enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other financial systems; prior experience or working knowledge of Municipal Financial Systems (Tyler ERP preferred); two or more years of municipal governmental accounting experience; experience in financial report writing and preparation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid Virginia driver's license.
Starting salary range $54,608-$57,338, commensurate with experience.
