Mississippi Center for Legal Services Corporation is a private non profit law firm providing professional and free quality civil legal services to eligible persons in central and southern Mississippi.
We are seeking someone who is a member of the Mississippi Bar; Five Years of experience in practice of law with experience in complex and sophisticated litigation in federal and state civil trial and appellate practice; and a has a comprehensive knowledge of poverty law.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Director to oversee the firm's major/complex litigation and law reform advocacy and to assist in the planning and development of the firm's general litigation and advocacy. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in leading and managing teams and developing strategies. Minimum Qualifications: Member of the Mississippi Bar; Five Years of experience in the practice of law with experience in complex and sophisticated litigation in federal and state civil trial and appellate practice; Has a comprehensive knowledge of poverty law.

Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
- Provide supervision and counsel to advocacy staff in the conduct of litigation.
- Participate as lead counsel or co-counsel in major/complext litigation;
- Initiate major/complex litigation. Maintain appropriate litigation docket. Plans/coordinate the firm's law reform advocacy.
- Review and authorize or deny authorization of the firm's appeals.
- Develop and supervise training programs for advocacy staff with emphasis on significant developments in poverty law and practice.
- Performs, learns and applies all necessary computer skills for performing the work.
- Performs additional and other duties for the smooth functioning of MCLSC and other duties as may be directed and reasonably assigned.
