Job Description:
As a School Meal Program Driver/Server at Nutrition One, you are at the heart of our mission to provide nutritious and appealing meals to students, supporting their education and well-being. This role involves compiling, transporting, and serving school meals while adhering to food safety and nutritional guidelines.
Core Responsibilities:
- Compile and load required items for school meals, including hot/cold items, condiments, paper goods, based on the prepared production record for each school on the designated route.
- Deliver meals to multiple schools within a strict schedule using company-owned vans, such as the Ram ProMaster.
- Serve meals to elementary and high school students, ensuring a respectful and engaging interaction.
- Adhere to food safety guidelines throughout the food handling process, from loading to delivery and serving.
- Familiarize with and adhere to meal patterns and requirements of federal/state child nutrition programs like NSLP, CACFP, SFSP.
- Maintain time/temperature food logs and other driver’s logs as requested.
- Unload the N1 fleet vehicle at the end of the workday, ensuring that leftover food, crates, driver binders, ice blankets/heating pads, etc., are properly managed.
Day to Day Activities:
- Start the workday in the kitchen, assisting with hot food production when necessary.
- Check and prepare the delivery vehicle each morning, loading all necessary items for the day’s deliveries.
- Drive safely and efficiently between multiple delivery sites, observing all company driving guidelines and maintaining a clean and organized vehicle.
- Interact professionally with students and school staff, providing courteous service and answering questions about the meals.
- Coordinate closely with Route Manager, Kitchen Manager, and corporate personnel to ensure accurate and timely meal delivery and service.
- Complete accurate production records and compliance documentation for each delivery.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid AZ driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Current Food Handler’s Card and DPS-issued Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- 3+ years of customer service experience, demonstrating a positive and professional demeanor.
- Ability to perform routine physical activities, including lifting over 50 pounds, walking, and squatting, as well as operating and using food service equipment.
- Comfortable driving and operating a large cargo van and working in environments with extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Must enjoy working with children of various ages.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
- Start time 5:00-6:00 am
Salary and Benefits:
- $17.00 per hour starting salary, with the possibility of an increase after a successful 90-day performance review.
- Full-time position, with seasonal variations in hours, particularly during summer, spring, and winter breaks.
