JOB DESCRIPTION
QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) Registered Nurse with a bachelor’s or higher degree in nursing preferred.
(2) 5 years of experience preferred.
(3) Supervisory and leadership experience.
(4) Related previous experience.
(5) Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to
Handle multiple tasks in professional and courteous manner. Ability to read and interpret the
State Board of Nursing regulations and policies.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Service Delivery
*(1) Provide leadership and coordination of all health science programs.
*(2) Ensure that the health science programs comply with all state statutes and regulations.
*(3) Submit an annual report by required deadline to the Florida Board of Nursing.
COORDINATOR OF HEALTH SCIENCES
FIRST COAST TECHNICAL COLLEGE (FCTC)
JOB GOAL
The Coordinator of Health Sciences will be responsible for ensuring that all health
science programs are in compliance with all laws and regulations of the Florida
Department of Education and Florida Board of Nursing. In addition. The coordinator
will provide leadership and coordination of all aspects of the health science programs
including, Practical Nursing, Dental Assisting Technology and Management, Medical
Assisting, and any programs that are under Health Science.
Each employee of the St. Johns County School Board will model the six pillars (as
defined by Character Counts!) of the character education program.

*(4) Submit the list of nursing graduates to the Florida Board of Nursing who have completed
all requirements for graduation of the program.
*(5) Will work closely with faculty, staff, and students as well as health care providers,
community partners and other educational institutions.
*(6) Serve as coordinator for all Health Science programs.
*(7) Promotes and assists student learning within each of the health science program courses
through sound instructional practices and create an environment that supports academic
rigor, fosters instructional innovation, and provide all-inclusive support services to
students and faculty.
*(8) Assists with the development of health science program curriculums and revises as
appropriate.
*(9) Guides the development and revision of course syllabi and student contracts as needed.
*(10) Monitors curriculum under the rules and regulations of the Florida Board of Education
and accrediting agencies.
*(11) Assists with departmental staffing by participating in interviewing candidates and making
hiring recommendations for staffing to administration.
*(12) Assists in the selection, organization, and coordination of clinical experiences for students
by evaluating facilities for clinical placement of students.
*(13) Coordinates the clinical schedules and part-time clinical support of full-time instructors.
*(14) Works to prepare and activate a formal agreement with each of the health care facilities
used as clinical sites.
*(15) Supports the recruitment of students by working with Student Services.
*(16) Assists in the selection of students to be admitted to the health science programs to comply
with all state statutes, agency regulations, and health care facility contract agreements.
*(17) Assists the administration, student advisors and other staff with counseling students.
*(18) Supports classroom and clinical instruction in the health science programs as needed.
*(19) Assists in building and maintaining the program Occupational Advisory Committees.
*(20) Conducts regularly schedule Occupational Advisory Committee meetings.
*(21) Assists instructors in requisitioning of equipment and supplies for their courses.
*(22) Foster cooperation and a team approach among all faculty members by modeling
professional behavior, innovative leadership, and standards of practice.

*Essential Performance Responsibilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as
frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the district.
This position may be required to work beyond a 40-hour work week on an as-needed basis.
