Overview:
The position is responsible for setting up, programming, checking, and modifying electrical controls panels, circuitry, and equipment. Adhering to established guidelines of the controls engineering department. Reports to: Controls Engineering Manager. Applicant must also be willing to work any shift assigned by Manager to complete projects as required.
Duties include but not limited to the following:
- Update program backups for automation systems
- Program new and modify existing installations of conveyor systems
- Reprogram automation systems for engineering changes and improvements
- Pretest controls programs through the use of test rigs or software emulators prior to shipment
- Provide system installation support and on-site start-up and debugging for both hardware and software
Other Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance and training to other Maintenance and Engineering employees in regard to the company’s drawing standards, CAD operation, programming, and file management software
- Provide preliminary application engineering of required equipment working with project engineering and management
- Assist project manager in generating quote requests for special equipment and subcontracted services
- Provide general information and documentation as requested
- Assist in the development and assembly of control systems and documents
- Perform related tasks on special projects as directed
- Use R3 Composites standard procedures, forms, and software to perform job functions
- Perform other duties as required for business operations
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
- Fundamental working knowledge of PLC logic and controls (RSLogix, Studio5000, Allen Bradley Platform.)
- Experience in Control electrical system wiring and rewiring for field changes.
- SQL, Access, and Excel
- Electrical Background (electrician or technician) helpful
- Allen Bradley Panel View use/programming AB Servo and AB VFD drives
- HMI Programming
- Familiarity with VFD’s, encoders, Resolvers, network/Ethernet controls
- Control panel building and design helpful
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to independently troubleshoot equipment for improvement for quality and delivery
- Ability to read prints, AutoCAD, interpret and modify electrical schematics.
- Understanding of hydraulic system programming and theory of operation.
- Networking, Ethernet, DH+, RIO
- Simulating modeling exposure
- Provide appropriate level of decision making in the layout and design function
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills
Education:
- Computer engineering Technology degree or similar experience
- Microsoft Office products
- Software including, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, and Factory Talk
