Job Description
As a leader on the AR finance team, this role is accountable for the personnel, processes, systems, and policies that manage Precoat Metals Credit and Collections functions. The objective of this role is to deliver the metrics and projects assigned to our DSO (Days Sales Outstanding), working capital, cash flow, bad debt, and aging targets, ensuring maximum cash collections and minimal bad debt write off’s.
This position is involved in all Accounting and AR functions at 13 operating units throughout the US. The selected candidate will perform month end close duties in accordance with GAAP, contribute to the forecasting and budgeting process, help administer all business compliance and proactively drive process improvement. This position will lead by example, with a team-player mindset, and drive accountability with team members. As a member of the finance leadership team this role will partner with other functional area leaders to drive and disseminate the company's strategic initiatives and goals. Ensuring that the team is providing quality service to both internal and external customers will be key as this role will interact with Business Unit Controllers, Sales, Accounting and extended Leadership team as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Processes new customer credit applications, runs and reviews all credit reports for new and existing customers ensuring compliance for all new and existing customers

Builds new and manage changes to existing customers in system

Runs A/R Aging reports to review customer accounts for past due issues, short payments and open debits while working closely with accounting/claims and commercial groups to resolve outstanding issues as needed

Promptly responds to customer email and phone requests for information or account documentation including invoices, statements or credit references, updates notes in Cforia for all customer contacts ensuring engagements are documented to hold all parties accountable

Works with customer service groups to track short payments for pricing and track all pending credit memo requests as needed. Work with accounting and commercial teams to ensure they are accurate and processed timely as needed

Manage AR Meeting as needed based on increases and decreases in major past dues and ensuring notes are updated and all teams are coordinated on next steps and what the issue is and who the account owner belong to

Works closely with sales, management, accounting and customers creating a team environment, work closely with cash application ensuring all cash is posted correctly and accurately and is posted and balanced as needed per month end policy and procedures, continuously focus on driving maximum cash collections and manage and strive for a zero bad debt annual outcome

Facilitate and assist Financial Cash Manager with weekly cash forecasting

Facilitate and assist Finance with standardization/best AR practices efforts (one consistent and standard way) and continuous improvement initiatives

Assist with the management of AR data integrity process improvement initiatives

Track and research unauthorized deductions and partner with Accounting in helping resolve and remaining in credit compliance

Provide information, data and conclusions to finance and other department functions as needed

Qualifications
EDUCATION & SKILLS:
- Bachelors in Accounting/Finance preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE:

5 years of increasing responsibility within AR / Finance / Accounting roles or Billing.

3+ years of people management experience preferred

Experience in or ready for a fast paced, operations and manufacturing environment

Occasional travel may be needed and required
