Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Organizes and supervises the daily maintenance function for the Plant including equipment, tools, facilities and grounds while controlling related costs.
Installs, maintains, repairs, adjusts, troubleshoots, and inspects equipment and tools. Documents maintenance work performed and maintains related records and files.
Designs, implements, and manages a preventive maintenance program for all mechanical equipment and tools.
Oversees general maintenance to plant structure and grounds and performs electrical and light plumbing work as needed.
Trains and provides direction to production staff regarding machine and equipment usage.
Develops, selects and negotiates with vendors and outside contractors for parts, some equipment/tools and specialized repair or installation services in coordination with the Plant Manager. Places orders with vendors, completes related paperwork and follows-up as needed.
Assists with the development and implementation of Plant safety programs. Assists with investigations of work-related accidents or sabotage that involve machines, equipment and/or tools.
Maintains knowledge of current trends in the field and maintains appropriate licensure or certifications. Attends appropriate training programs to remain current on machines, equipment, and other maintenance related areas.
Communicates regularly with internal Plant contacts to coordinate matters related to maintenance of equipment. Provides input for the annual Plant budget and capital expenditures planning. Identifies systems and procedures designed to improve operations.
Functional/Technical Competencies
Experience/Education
High school graduate or equivalent (minimum of some college level classes preferred)
5+ years of relevant training in one or more of the maintenance trades to perform class of work ordinarily required of a journeyman in these trades, with prior lead/supervisory and/or in bedding industry experiences preferred
Experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic tools
Familiarity with safety programs and OSHA and environmental issues in manufacturing environment
Proficient with MS Office
Job Factors/Work Environments
Safety-focused, fast-paced manufacturing plant engaged in Lean Manufacturing assembly principles. Work environment includes a clean and safe work area, exposure to high noise decibels, oil and limited chemicals. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to be worn for any hazards and is supplied by the company.
