We are seeking a Distribution Manager to join our team.
Distribution Manager
The Distribution Manager is responsible for daily truck routing (inter-company shuttles, trailer and bulk deliveries), monitoring delivery vehicle maintenance, recordkeeping, and driver safety oversight. The Distribution Manager will maximize delivery service in a safe and efficient manner. Supervises drivers and coordinates unusual requirements with the Plant Manager.
Essential Functions
- Directly supervises drivers.
- Manages the availability of drivers and equipment, including all vehicle maintenance requirements, to ensure that adequate resources are available.
- Controls distribution costs and maximizes service response through balancing of daily routes and overall system optimization.
- Provides safety and compliance training to meet Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety & Health Agency, Food & Drug Administration and Volunteer organization-wide requirements.
- Drives continuous improvement in daily distribution operations.
- Develops, documents and trains employees on Standard Operating Processes.
- Reviews and processes daily all Department of Transportation documentation.
- Reviews returned trips for paperwork accuracy and completeness, and unfulfilled orders. Reviews open orders for status and closure.
- Prepares daily local and inter-branch delivery schedule for cylinders and bulk.
- Prepares load sheets, delivery tickets, manifests, and highlights any critical customer requirements. Ensures loads are accurate and complete.
- Responds to inquiries from sales, customer service and branches regarding delivery status, capabilities and any emergency delivery requirements.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Basic Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing or distribution operation.
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a distribution.
- Knowledge of truck routing and shipping of hazardous materials.
- Knowledge of DOT & OSHA regulations and FDA requirements.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Able to drive a forklift.
- Ability to Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree in supply chain management, logistics management or related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of TIMS/CU.
- CDL
