Job Title: Lead Preschool Teacher

About Us: Sonshine Preschool is an outreach ministry of Sunbury Christian Church. Our philosophy is that children learn through play, creating and doing. Our curriculum is both developmentally and individually appropriate. We base our programs and practices on the individual child, at the rate of growth and unique learning styles.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated preschool teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and a nurturing approach to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, and a commitment to integrating Christian principles into daily teaching. You will be responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, promoting social, emotional, and cognitive growth, and ensuring the safety and well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement a comprehensive curriculum that meets the developmental needs and interests of preschool children while incorporating Christian values and teachings.
- Plan and lead educational activities, both structured and unstructured, to promote children’s development in various domains, including spiritual growth.
- Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages children’s curiosity and love of learning.
- Monitor and document children’s progress and development through observation, assessment, and regular communication with parents and guardians.
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues modeling Christian behavior and values.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing, health, and safety regulations.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a classroom and handle multiple tasks and challenges effectively.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching young children.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- FBI/BCI background during the hiring process
