DEPARTMENT: Skilled Nursing Facility
SHIFT: 8 Hour Shifts
Under general guidance of the Director of nursing (DON) Distinct-part assumes responsibility for developing and providing a comprehensive education program for the Skilled Nursing Facility nursing staff. Under general guidance of the Infection Preventionist monitors infection prevention in the Skilled Nursing Facility.

Serves as the Director of Staff Development, per SNF guidelines, and teaches the Certified Nursing Assist training program.

Onboards new hires for SNF and Acute

Acts as the contact person for the BRN continuing education provider and maintains records as warranted.

Evaluates manuals, guides, and other materials contributing to improving clinical performance.

Assisting with staff instruction and maintaining patient care standards.

Evaluates quality of patient care and patient outcomes as they relate to healthcare–associated infections

Monitors SNF compliance with all regulations regarding infection prevention

Implements programs to protect the healthcare workers, visitors, patients, and others in the healthcare environment from risk of infection.

Responsible for internal and external reporting of information and data.

All other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) Required:
-
Current Ca Nursing License - RN or LVN
-
BLS certification
-
Completion of 24 hour BRN approved course of continuing education in planning and evaluation programs in nursing. – May be obtained within 90 days of hire
Education Preferred:
-
High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Medical Terminology
-
Certification in Infection Prevention
Minimum Experience Required:
-
Completion of a basic training program for infection prevention or completion of training program within 6 months of hire date
Experience Preferred:
-
Previous teaching experience
Skills:

Excellent verbal, written and listening skills.

Ability to use communication skills to enhance learning through motivation, associations and repetition.

Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.

Ability/willingness to use the Districts Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Ability to teach and evaluate infection control practices.

Ability to develop policies and procedures.
