Job Title: Clinical Supervisor

The direct clinical supervisor needs to meet the qualifications specified by the regulations of the New Jersey Board of Marriage and Family Counselors, Alcohol and Drug Counselor Committee at N.J.A.C. 13:34C-6.3.
· Ensuring that the behavioral and pharmacologic approaches to treatment are evidence based or based on objective information to provide treatment services consistent with recognized treatment principles and practices for each level of care and type of client served by the program;
· Providing and documenting direct clinical supervision at least one hour per week to all clinical staff, individually or in a group setting, with group supervision not to exceed 50 percent of supervision time; and keeping proper documentation of feedback/directives and a written summary of recommendations.
· Providing supervision at least one hour per week to all clinical staff, individually or in a group setting to the counselor intern or provisionary licensed professional for supervision hours towards their certification or full licensure hours, with group supervision not to exceeding the percent of supervision time requested by the counselor intern or provisionary licensed professional; and keeping proper documentation of feedback/directives and a written summary of recommendations.
· Providing supervision using direct and indirect methods, including co-facilitation of at least 1 group per month for every group facilitator. Keeping proper documentation of feedback/directives and a written summary of recommendations.
· Ensuring that substance abuse counseling services are provided as specified in the client treatment plan, and coordinated with other client care services, if applicable, in order to provide continuity of care;
· Clinical supervision of staff is provided to ensure that the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of clients with co-occurring disorders is provided by appropriately supervised qualified clinical staff, and keep proper documentation of feedback/directives and a written summary of recommendations.
· Assessing and participating in staff education activities and providing consultation to program personnel;
· Ensuring that clinical staff are being supervised by the appropriately credentialed staff, and providing all the necessary documents for supervised staff as needed and requested.
· Running clinical staff meetings weekly and keeping documentation of meetings
· Running family group with clients’ loved ones, 1group biweekly
· Assign caseloads to therapist that best fit the need of the client
· Audit documentation regularly, to ensure that all notes and treatment plan are in on time for all clients; and present a documented note of missing clinical notes and treatment plans weekly to all staff.
· Directly observe staff’s clinical and administrative work.
· Provide clinical training to all staff on suicidal prevention and documentation procedure and any necessary clinical trainings, to new staff as they begin and current staff as needed.
· Assist clinical director and administrator with any necessary need requested by them.
· Open to step in and run groups in the event that a day becomes short staffed or the need arises to do so
· A New Jersey licensed clinical social worker, who is a certified clinical supervisor by The Certification Board, http://certbd.org/site/wp-content/uploads/Certified-Clinical-Supervisor-application.pdf, or is an LCADC;
· A New Jersey licensed professional counselor, or licensed marriage and family therapist, who is a certified clinical supervisor by The Certification Board, http://certbd.org/site/wp-content/uploads/Certified-Clinical-Supervisor-application.pdf, or who is an LCADC;
· A New Jersey licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor who, in addition, holds a Master's degree recognized by the New Jersey Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners, Alcohol and Drug Counselor Committee, Division of Consumer Affairs, New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety as meeting the educational requirements set forth in N.J.A.C. 13:34C-2.2(b)1;
Incumbents with a Master's degree in counseling or social work not possessing any of the qualifications specified in (a) above shall obtain LCADC status by June 1, 2012, or another health professional license that includes diagnostic and supervisory authority for work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature.
Education and Licenses:
· A masters degree or higher in mental health OR social work
· LPC or LCSW and LCADC with supervisory certification are a MUST
