Texas Star Pharmacy is an innovative multi-service compounding pharmacy in Plano, Texas operating since 2006. About the role
As a licensed Pharmacist at Texas Star Pharmacy, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective distribution of prescription medications and providing outstanding patient care. You will work closely with our team to maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations while delivering top-notch customer service. Our pharmacy's hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9:00 am-6:30 pm Saturday; 9:00 am -1:00 pm. These hours may change based on the needs of Texas Star Pharmacy. This position needs flexibility to work a second shift 4 pm to 12 am, 1 or more days per week. Pharmacists applying for this role should be available for flexible shifts day, evenings, and some weekends.
This role requires continuous standing and mobility that is associated with working in a retail environment.
Responsibilities
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately and efficiently dispense prescription medications to patients, verifying orders for completeness and correctness.
- Patient Counseling: Offer counseling and guidance to patients regarding their medications, including dosage, side effects, and proper usage, to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Medication Management: Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy, address drug interactions, and recommend therapeutic alternatives when necessary.
- Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards, including maintaining accurate records and dispensing controlled substances responsibly.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage pharmacy inventory, order medications as needed, and conduct regular audits to maintain adequate stock levels while minimizing waste.
- Patient Care: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries, concerns, and resolving any issues promptly and professionally.
- Patient Safety: Implement and maintain best practices for medication safety, including proper storage, labeling, and disposal of medications.
- Health Promotion: Educate patients on preventive healthcare measures, such as vaccinations, and promote health and wellness programs offered by the pharmacy.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure smooth daily operations and maintain a positive work environment.
- Continuing Education: Stay current with developments in pharmacy practice by attending relevant workshops, seminars, and training programs.
- Be willing and able to get out of state licenses as business needs arise and be willing to be the PIC for those non resident states.
Qualifications:
- Active Texas State Board of Pharmacy certified license to practice pharmacy in the state of Texas.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in prescription dispensing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and pharmacy management systems.
- Candidates with multiple non resident pharmacist licenses and have compounding experience are preferred
