- Assisting store manager with building the restaurant team and restaurant sales.
- Possibly assisting in inputting current data into an excel spreadsheet that compares progress with historical data. Sales, food cost, labor cost, guest satisfaction, etc. All reports/spreadsheets will be turned into the Operations Manager on a monthly basis.
- Assisting in responding to customer complaints in person. Remember: The customer is always right.
- For online customer dissatisfaction, gather supporting evidence and bring to tore manager’s attention.
- Assisting in conducting employee reviews
- For all new hires a 30 day, 60 day, and 90 day review should be conducted. After 90 days, reviews should be conducted every 6 months. It is the Store Manager’s responsibility to keep track of when an employee review has been conducted and when upcoming employee reviews need to be scheduled. All documentation from a completed employee review will be turned into Human Resources; where employment, wages, and any additional actions with the employee will be decided based on the review.
- Assists in administrative functions.
- Manager Inspection Sheet & HACCP should be completed daily and will be found in your Manager’s Manual. These forms will be signed off and picked up monthly by the Ops. Manager.
- Is capable of performing every function in the restaurant so as to properly supervise all of those functions.
- Effectively communicates with everyone, from Store Manager, to the other employees, to guests, vendors, and our representatives.
- All information & communication should be discussed with the Store Manager.

- Information discussed and agreed upon in Store Manager meetings with corporate
- Communication style:
- No authoritarian demands (“fear-mongering”). Assistant store managers should lead and motivate. (will be measured by 360 review)
- Setting an agenda for meetings with Store Manager and Shift Lead meetings.
- These meetings should be limited to 3-5 issues with a time keeper to ensure the meeting is held within 20 minutes. Any issues taking longer to discuss than usual should be brought to corporate’s attention in Store Manager Meetings.
- Information and time management with vendors (including but not limited to):
- No walk-in meetings. If a new vendor wants to do business with The Pizza Press, the Store Manager will schedule a time to have a meeting with the Operations Manager present to negotiate pricing and product.
- Discussions with vendors to place an order should be no longer than 20 minutes and on the topic at hand.
- Complete understanding of policies and procedures set in place and upholding service standards with the utmost excellence in the restaurant.
- Responsible for assisting Human Resources in hiring and firing.
- Fully responsible training, and scheduling of entire staff (Assistant Manager may be delegated these duties.).
- Assisting the Store Manager with keeping track of necessary employee documents including, but not limited to: Food Handler’s Card, TIPS Certified, Chemical Training, etc.
- Ensures the security and accuracy of the restaurant and staff members during business hours.
- Assists with ensuring food safety (temperatures, damage, etc.) and accuracy of deliveries.
- Assisting in taking monthly inventory against sales; places and receives product orders based off of need assessment.
- Such inventory reports will be turned into the Operations Manager on a monthly basis
- Ensures The Pizza Press procedures to prepare menu items and prep ingredients are being followed.
- Including but not limited to: portioning, quality of food production, quantity of items prepped, etc.
- Assists Store Manager in holding employee meetings.
- Staff meetings should occur once a month with a strict agenda. Should take no longer than 90 minutes.
- Shift Lead meetings should occur monthly with a strict agenda. Should take no longer than 20 minutes.
- Maintains professionalism.
- Assists in maintaining the POS system.
- Any menu changes, price changes, or promotions should be brought up at Store Manager Meetings with corporate for approval.
- Monitors quality of food and maintains high standards of guest service.
- Delivers quality guest service and monitors the level of service throughout the restaurant.
- Ensures all health and sanitation standards are being met and that all health inspections are passed.
- Adheres to company standards, including personal hygiene and appearance.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Managers Food Handler’s Card.
- Understanding of scheduling software and labor needs
- Able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Good math skills
- TIPS Training
- MAP training (a benefit but not required)
Scheduling Expectations:
- Shifts from Mid-Dinner hours
- Working weekends
- All major holidays pertaining to store location
- Negotiable with Store Manager
- Filling in any manager shifts and functions when necessary
