Job Summary:
The Mechanic A Technician will apply various technologies and knowledge to test, repair, and modify manufacturing machinery and equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
MECHANIC A ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performing all phases of maintenance, including electrical mechanical systems (i.e. fabricating, welding, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventative maintenance. Schematics, blueprinting, wiring, and conduit bending • Lock out tags out.
Maintain required records, reporting in writing any uncorrected mechanical/electrical defects and replacement parts to the supervisor.
Direct/instruct subordinate employees still in training (e.g. Maintenance Mechanic B,C and Trainees).
1) Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues including 480v 3 phase and PLC communication.
2) Fabricate mild and stainless steel from prints/drawings. Use of MIG and Arc welding. Use of torch and plasma cutter.
3) Diagnose conveyance and other process issues relating to leaks, plugs, bridging, etc.
4.) ability to troubleshoot sensors, proximity switches, photo eyes, inductive sensors and encoders.
Qualifications
Mechanic A requirements:
1. 5 Years welding experience with MIG and TIG Arc welder on mild, stainless steel, and aluminum. Proficient in use of plasma cutter and torch.
2. Know and follow lockout/tag out procedures, confined spaces, and MSDS. Follow all OSHA and company policies and best practices including GMP’s
3. Math, reading, and writing capabilities. Understand blueprints, schematics, repair manuals.
4. Knowledge of electrical wiring for 120/240/480 volts and low 24 volts control wiring.
5. Capability of repairing/replacing pumps, motors and valves.
6. Diagnose PLC issues and work with vendors to repair.
7. Ability to perform a variety of strenuous physical tasks including lifting (up to 50 lbs.), working in confined spaces, ability to work and climb at heights (50 feet), climbing up/down ladders and stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, stand, and reach on a daily/repetitive basis.
8. Must have an overall favorable employment record and attendance record.
9. Working all shifts; Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
10. Must be able to show up to work daily and be on-time to perform the duties of the position.
11. Ability to operate all plant equipment and machinery including rolling stock (trucks/trailers, forklifts, loaders, man lifts).
12. Plumbing skills.
13. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
14. Good mathematical skills.
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree or postsecondary certificate in related discipline required; Bachelors degree preferred.
- At least two years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing in factory and at times, sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
- Manual dexterity to evaluate, install, and modify equipment.
