The four stellar programs available at Holy Family Ministries: 1) Little Learners Academy - Early learning education, 2) Holy Family School - Education for K-8, 3) Adventures in Learning - afterschool and summer camp, and 4) The Peace Exchange -youth leadership and violence prevention program.
JOB OVERVIEW
Under the immediate supervision of a teacher holding a valid state certificate directly engaged in teaching subject matter or conducting activities, assists in the instruction of pupils; and performs related duties as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
- Assist in implementing a developmentally appropriate preschool program for young children.
- Assist lead teacher with the implementation of Gateway Learning System for preschool, meeting the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children in the program.
- Assist lead teacher with planning weekly lesson plans.
- Meet regularly with the lead teacher to review weekly plans and activities.
- Assist lead teacher with adequate recording and recordkeeping of information required to document the growth and development of children using the Gateway Learning System (training available).
- Assist lead teacher with maintaining adequate equipment and activities.
- Help maintain the facility in a safe and satisfactory condition.
- Assist lead teacher in developing culturally appropriate programs and activities.
- Assist lead teacher with maintaining a well-organized, safe, and attractive classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children.
- Adhere to the Illinois Early Learning Standards.
- Keep abreast of current knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education.
- Ensure children are always supervised.
- Maintain appropriate student / teacher ratios.
- Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
- Assist lead teacher with implementing appropriate behavior management and positive discipline when required.
- Integrate special needs children in a positive and respectful manner.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred)
- Associate’s degree or sixty college credit hours with fifteen hours in ECE/Child Development (required)
- Minimum 1 year experience as an assistant teaching position with children between 3-5 years old
- Experience with MS Office Suites & Google Workspace
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Able to work indoors and assist with outdoor activities. Role requires walking, squatting, kneeling, sitting on the floor, seeing, hearing, speaking with children to ensure their safety. Lift a minimum of 10lbs.
