Under general supervision of the Director of Performance Improvement and Decision Support, the Cardiac Data Specialist performs data collection and submission for various data requirements including the American College of Cardiology (ACC) National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) CathPCI registry for cardiac catheterizations and interventional procedures, the NCDR ICD Registry for implantable cardioverter defibrillators, and AMI core measures as part of the Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Quality Alliance quality reporting program. Assists with Society for Thoracic Surgery (STS)data collection for the cardiac surgery program and other data collection requirements as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Registered Nurse in the State of West Virginia
2. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
EXPERIENCE:
1. Knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Certification by the National Association of Healthcare Quality preferred
2. BSN preferred
EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum of two years clinical care experience preferred.
2. Cardiac/critical care experience preferred
3. Quality Improvement/Performance Improvement experience preferred
4. Access experience preferred
5. Knowledge of database applications, spreadsheet design preferred
6. Knowledge of database management and file management preferred

1. Responsible for data collection for cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures for participation in the American College of Cardiology (ACC) NCDR CathPCI registry.
2. Responsible for data collection for implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) for NCDR ICD registry.
3. Performs data collection for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) core measure data collection as part of the Joint Commission and the CMS Hospital Quality Alliance quality reporting program.
4. Assures timely data submission in accordance with ACC NCDR CathPCI and ICD submission deadlines, as well as CMS/Joint Commission core measure deadlines.
5. Assists with data collection for participation in the Society for Thoracic Surgery (STS) registry for open heart procedures as needed, and assists with other data collection as needed.
6. Works collaboratively with hospital staff and physicians to accurately collect data, providing education as needed to improve data accuracy.
7. Assists with data analysis and report generation to support cardiovascular quality improvement efforts.
