We are seeking a dynamic Business Development & Strategic Partnerships Manager to spearhead our efforts in positioning Oceanit as a premier technology partner for innovative change-oriented energy companies and government agencies. This position reports directly to the Director of Product Realization Global and will collaborate closely with the various research and technical teams at Oceanit in Honolulu and Houston. This position will play a pivotal role in driving growth and cultivating strategic alliances to elevate the company's prominence within strategic industries.
This Manager will have the accountability to shape and win new business through a balanced focus on customer discovery, customer value proposition development, assessment of the competitive environment, internal corporate advocacy, as well as promoting the Oceanit brand in the organization's best interests. The position will include developing a growth strategy to identify new business opportunities being solicited by current and future customers, as well developing and shaping new technical solutions to address problems facing them. They will play a leadership role in defining technical solutions and competitive assessments.
THE VALUE YOU DELIVER:
- For Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with the company objectives and growth targets.
- Promote Oceanit as a premier technology partner through conferences, industry events, hosted events & tours, and partnerships. Assist with marketing efforts, trade show presence (virtual and in person), and overall market-facing promotion and awareness. Work closely with marketing and product groups for content creation: case studies, presentations, product collateral, thought leadership, etc.
- Represent Oceanit at industry shows across the United States, engaging with inbound travel marketing representatives, and establishing strategic regional branding partnerships.
- Follow up with leads generated from onsite activations, facilitating connections and translating to defined partnership and related product lines effectively. Strategically navigate prospects through applicable staging (i.e. lead to ARR)
- Target, qualify and manage a portfolio of new product lines requiring channel selling and product improvement; this includes leading and delivering technical information and presentations. Partner closely with Product and Engineering to ensure the feedback loop of partner needs and requirements are prioritized and implemented.
- For Strategic Partnerships:
- Cultivate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including businesses, government agencies, universities, and industry associations.
- Collaborate closely with marketing and PR agency partners to capitalize on potential business leads and optimize collaboration opportunities.
- Collaborate with Product and Business leads to implement a CRM strategy and Pipeline tracking system aligned with the growth and continued scale of the organization.
- Keep a pulse on market movement/trends, competition, regulation, and general movement within the industry.
- Manage accounts for existing partnerships as the primary commercial point of contact for key needs with a focus on client retention and up-selling new products.
THE EXPERTISE WE ARE SEEKING:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing & sales, or related field.
- Start-up or other entrepreneurial experience is a plus.
- Experience working at an energy service company is a plus.
- Proven experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or related roles within the energy industry. Skilled and comfortable in complex sales, detecting and reducing perceived risk, navigating multiple relationships, and having people-skills for building and maintaining trust.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Flexibility to travel and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Solid understanding of the entire energy value chain and industry dynamics.
- Deep understanding and experience in new product development and technology commercialization.
