We're seeking an HR Assistant based in the New York City metro area. As an HR Assistant, you will support our New York headquarters location and other satellite offices, ensuring that policies & procedures are understood and applied fairly and consistently. This role reports to the Director of Human Resources.
Experience in a customer service/logistics environment is preferred but will train the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Create job postings, schedule interviews, run background screening checks
- Process full life cycle of employees and Independent Contractors from onboarding to offboarding
- Maintain knowledge of current human resource and benefit trends, laws, governmental compliance, and company policies.
- Process full life cycle of employees going out on Medical leave, FMLA, and PFL
- Administer company benefits and assist with the open enrollment process by creating and distributing materials.
- Organize and maintain personnel records (e.g. applications, record sick or maternity leave)
- Liaise with employees and external partners, and ensure legal compliance
- Answer employees’ queries about HR-related issues
- Support our Human Resources Director as needed.
Qualifications:
- Highly proficient in applications within MS Office Suite a MUST
- Advanced organizational skills with high accuracy and attention to detail, plus the ability to reprioritize for self and staff to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations.
- Must be able to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of HR principles and practices, including knowledge of Diversity & Inclusion, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and state and federal employment law
- Ability to preserve the confidentiality of information.
- Serve as the backup for the HR Manager

Hourly Rate: $26.44 - $28.84 (Based on experience)
