DEP is seeking a Program Specialist I to support the work of the RainScapes Team in the Stewardship Section of the Watershed Restoration Division. The ideal candidate enjoys, and has demonstrated experience, working with program systems and operational processes, working with the public, is engaging, creative, and has a desire to work and interact with residents who have diverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiences.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Managing project files, public contact lists, and event calendars.
- Providing technical support working with the RainScapes database; data entry.
- Developing program feedback questionnaires, collates data.
- Creating maps using GIS templates for projects.
- Revising program graphics and handouts as required.
- Creating reports from program surveys.
- Assessing incoming calls and emails for RainScapes program and MC311 assignments.
- Conducting outreach activities on behalf of RainScapes at community events as well as interacting with the public via email and phone.
- Maintaining and coordinating program supplies; places orders with vendors.
- Providing website update support for the team.
- Contributing to program planning exercises with the team.
The ideal candidate will also have considerable knowledge of GIS systems as well as experience in Adobe Suite.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work with, and is comfortable learning new skills in, a range of technology tools and work with staff who use those tools. The candidate will have demonstrated examples of being highly organized and detail oriented.
This position occasionally requires the ability to attend meetings, events and perform work at locations outside the office, which includes traveling to various locations throughout Montgomery County.
Occasional evening or weekend work outside of normal business hours may be required.
To ensure a positive workplace and to comply with federal, state and County laws, the incumbent is responsible for completing mandatory trainings within the first three to six months or within the specified timeframe.
