Summary:
The Area Manager has operational accountability for their assigned customer accounts located throughout the Chicago area. They must manage and train their teams and inspect their jobsites regularly to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded.
Essential Duties:
- Retain 100% of Customers.
- Meet or exceed the profitability goals for your customer accounts.
- Become the expert on all assigned customer facilities; requirements of those facilities and any unwritten rules.
- Drive a vehicle to various accounts throughout the day.
- Walk through the job sites to inspect regularly and report your findings – address any quality concerns immediately.
- Identify any project work needed at customer worksites; communicate the need to Management.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to all customer concerns or complaints; take full responsibility to ensure the customer receives closure on all issues and inquiries.
- Onboard and set-up training for all new employees (including hands-on training, job shadowing, etc.).
- Manage any employee relations or performance issues quickly and appropriately; report to management or HR.
- Communicate the need for any special project work at customer accounts.
- Monitor timekeeping and overtime hours.
- Respond to calls whenever needed.
- Enforce all safety policies and procedures; immediately report and investigate accidents.
- Complete training courses as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct supervision of the site supervisors and any janitors working at sites without supervisors.
Qualifications:

- Minimum 3 years multi-unit management experience in the janitorial industry.
- Ability to manage multiple sites and multiple crews.
- Ability to meet deadlines and make sound decisions in stressful situations.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Able to multi-task.
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
- Ability to show judgment and to work independently.
- High integrity and discretion required.
