BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for the smooth operation and flow of calls, emails and providers orders regarding scheduled an outpatient same-day or short-stay procedure. This includes, but is not limited to pre-registration, scheduling, obtaining accurate demographics, providing exam preparations, collection of appropriate authorizations or financial assistance information in a courteous and efficient manner. Other duties pertinent to optimal customer service, patient flow, and efficient staff utilization are also expected. Provide timely and accurate schedules and specialized reports on a daily, monthly, or as needed basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Organize, implement and maintain scheduling management system. Log all new information into database and provide scheduled reports for coordination and reporting purposes. Interact with customers, patients, providers and staff to coordinate pre-op surgery and post appointment along with all follow up appointments needed. Evaluate patients for surgery readiness to determine the appropriate OR and post-op timeframe. Analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend work-around. Manage daily add-ons and emergency cases, assist team to develop and maintain periodic status reports to keep management informed. Conduct analysis to determine alternative courses of action or recovery on slipped schedules. Depending upon the location and assigned area of responsibility, the following duties may apply: Prepare patients for examinations including taking and recording vital signs, printing medication lists, and other tasks. Perform Point of Care (POC) testing on patients, maintain POC equipment and supplies, and maintain equipment/controls. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. Three (3) years of clerical, office, or healthcare related work experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs. and occasionally move objects up to 25 lbs. This role may also routinely come into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
