OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Receptionist will greet vendors, customers, job applicants and other visitors and operate a switchboard to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls while maintaining professional composure & courtesy via telephone or in-person interactions. The Receptionist has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within this field and relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operates telephone console
-
Receives and direct telephone caller courteously and professionally to the appropriate individual or department.

Greets clients, visitors, and guests courteously and professionally to determines the purpose of each person’s visit and connect with the appropriate individual or department

Takes steps to assure guest wait time is minimized
-
Trains relief personnel for the front desk as needed
-
Performs basic filing and recordkeeping
-
Reports telephone malfunctions or discrepancies to the Information Technology help desk or supervisor

Engages personal discretion concerning information of ministry shared in the normal flow of staff relations

Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
-
High School Diploma or GED is preferred
EXPERIENCE:
-
Type minimum of 40 wpm
-
Switchboard operator
-
6 months to two (2) years of experience in this field or in a related area is preferred
SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Strong human relations and communications skills to deal effectively with telephone callers and visitors
