Description: Under the supervision of the General Manager the Yard Customer Service Representative is responsible for providing assistance with customers’ material purchases, answer questions regarding products and maintain a professional, organized appearance of the yard. All employees are expected to be consistent in following company policies and procedures and safety guidelines; timeliness, quality, accuracy and thoroughness of work performed; attendance, dress, leadership, honesty, integrity, teamwork and respect for others.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Greets customers and establishes positive customer relations. Customer service is priority number one.
2. Uses proper material handling techniques.
3. Resolves safety issues independently.
4. Locates materials and accurately fills customer orders from sales orders and invoices.
5. Correctly assists customers in loading materials on vehicles as required.
6. Actively ensures that all customers in the yard are being assisted with a YCS rep.
7. Accurately processes paperwork including returned merchandise, additions or changes.
8. Uses saws and yard equipment safely and correctly.
9. Shows initiative for job and performance.
10. Properly stocks materials and maintains inventory appearance, flat stacking etc.
11. Demonstrates safe and efficient forklift operation skills.
12. Maintains safety checks on yard customer service forklifts.
13. Uses good housekeeping at all times, keeps yard and product in order at all times.
14. Maintains quality interpersonal relationships while striving to improve morale among fellow employees.
15. Identifies and dispenses with dunnage properly.
16. Finds low stock levels and takes initiative to restock material
17. Attends training sessions and safety meetings as required by management
18. Strives to improve morale with coworkers.
19. Takes responsibility for own errors and mistakes.
20. Identifies and completes projects without prompting and utilizes downtime effectively.
21. Provides security at the gate / guard shack.
22. Runs Hot Shot delivers as requested.
23. Operates within the WMS operational guidelines when applicable
24. Understands, uses and follows the company internal paperwork systems and policies.
25. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements:Education A high school education or equivalent is required. Must be able to read, write and speak English and have the ability to work with and understand printed forms and documents.
Experience Prior experience in the building industry or customer service is desirable, but not required.

Physical Ability to lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds and meet the physical requirements as defined in the pre-placement physical
Other Must be able to pass pre-placement business math test
Must be able to maintain positive, professional relationships with customers and co-workers.

Must be able to organize and prioritize the workload assigned
Must be a self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision to complete assigned projects

Typical Working Conditions: This position works outside constantly. An employee in this position will encounter high heat and very cold temperatures. Weather conditions encountered will be sun, rain and snow. An employee in this position will be handling treated lumber and may be exposed to fumes from these products. An employee in this position may also encounter mold.
Equipment Used: This position requires an employee to use forklifts, chainsaw, panel saw, cutoff saw, bobcat, snow blower, shovels and other equipment as assigned.
