Under the direction of the practice manager & general direction of the Director of Nursing, the Sterile Processing Technician receives, cleans, decontaminates, and sterilizes all instruments/supplies/equipment for reprocessing. Assemble and tests equipment for issue as requested, as well as orders supplies as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Restocks ambulatory surgical center operating room supplies as work load permits, etc..
· Organizes instruments, equipment, and supplies for easy access and maximum efficiency.
· Applies specialized knowledge of specialized instruments, equipment and supplies utilized in surgical procedures. Decontaminates, assembles, wraps/packages and sterilizes instruments in a timely manner using Standard Precautions.
· Runs daily tests of autoclaves and sterilizers to ensure quality and maintains all required records/logs. Notifies the Nurse Manager immediately of any issues with sterilization.
· Adheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service. Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice group.
A high school diploma or GED is required, no medical experience or sterile processing experience is required. Part-Time Benefits offered after 90 day probation period include paid time off, annual uniform allowance, and more!
