Job Summary:
Valley Oaks Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Mental Health Paraprofessional to join our team!! In this role, you will work collaboratively with students, teachers, and other professionals to provide essential support services to promote students' social, emotional, and behavioral well-being. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with youth and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment!
Duties:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
- Assist in the implementation of behavior intervention plans and other support strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to develop and implement individualized support plans for students.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the school team.
- Facilitate social skills groups and other targeted interventions as needed.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor for students, promoting healthy coping skills and positive decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
Skills:
- Experience working with students or children in an educational or mental health setting
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices
- Strong math skills for data collection and analysis
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Familiarity with deaf education or ability to communicate effectively with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Ability to educate and engage individuals of various ages and backgrounds
- Experience working with children or adolescents with behavioral or emotional challenges
- Knowledge of literacy education principles and strategies
- Ability to provide appropriate care for toddlers, including feeding, diapering, and engaging in age-appropriate activities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, education, or related field preferred.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in a school or mental health setting.
- Knowledge of behavioral interventions and strategies for supporting students with diverse needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.09 - $20.99 per hour
Expected hours: 28 per week
