The Plant HRA (Human Resources Assistant) is an HR entry-level position that learns and applies skills gained in supporting the Human Resources Supervisor. The position provides administrative support in all general HR functions to the Fresh Cut Plant Operations, to ensure the Plant operates its business efficiently. Functions may include recruiting and employment, labor retention, records management, HRIS, reports, employee relations, training, workers' compensation, labor law compliance, safe work practices, administration of company policies and procedures, and promoting Duda's values.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to HR Supervisor.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Provides clerical support to the HR department.
- May assist with payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, and distributing checks.
- Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
- Conducts or assists with new hire orientation.
- Assist with coordination of employee trainings.
- Conducts daily inspections of the plant, asserting and ensuring compliance with all applicable company and government safety, health and security regulations and procedures.
- Conducts first response protocol for work related injuries, evaluation and asserting further medical assistance.
- Documents Employee Relations issues on intake forms and submit forms to HR Supervisor for investigation.
- Ensure all Employee Related issues are documented; and all required forms have been completed for each report (intake sheet, investigation report, complaint summary, follow-up and proper filing of closed investigations).
- Audit compliance and plant post boards to ensure all required documentation is posted.
- Assist with coordination of employee trainings to ensure they are up to date with company policies and procedures.
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic knowledge of state and federal labor laws
- Valid CA driver license
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma required but AA degree desired, business or related field.
- Minimum 1-year experience in Human Resources or related field.
