Director of Special Care Residences
As the premiere provider of restorative services in an assisted living, Golden Pond values each resident as a unique individual with a story worth sharing. Thus, the Director of Harmony Village Memory Care must be committed to serve our residents and their families through special programs and services to honor each resident. This person must be committed to serving the residents with sensitivity and responsiveness to their needs. Knowledge of the aging process and mental health is required of this position.
Qualifications/Overview:
- Must be a licensed Nurse in good standing in the state of Massachusetts
- Must possess leadership skills and the ability to communicate and interact clearly and effectively (written and oral) with residents and their families, staff, and management and others as required;
- Must possess strong customer relations skills, and ability to foster a spirit of customer service, teamwork and cooperation;
- Acute sense of responsibility and moral integrity. Sincere desire to work with cognitively impaired residents and ability to deal with residents under all conditions. Compassion and patience essential; level-headed and calm in emergencies.
- Knowledge of the Executive Office of Elder Affairs regulations.
- Must be willing to perform additional duties of other positions in the department if and as needed;
- Must show commitment to the Golden Pond Community, our standards of care, and the assisted living model of care.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the continued development of Special Care Services’ objectives, manages the scheduling of programs and activities in accordance with Golden Pond policies and EOEA regulations.
- Ensures the daily delivery of a therapeutic milieu were residents, staff and families are engaged in a meaningful and purposeful way.
- Provides guidance and supervision to all Golden Pond employees working within the secures unit through observation, feedback, role modeling and encouragement to enhance the overall care and emotional well-being of all residents.
- Provides in-service educational trainings and continuing education for associates, family members and volunteers. Pursues educational development in senior healthcare, Dementia and other relevant topics. Provides family nights on a regular ongoing schedule.
- Facilitates family and support groups of Residents residing in the Special Care Units to promote well-being, sense of belonging and connection with Golden Pond Community.
- Implement 3D Behavioral Care Program/BCAT.
- Works in role of Wellness Nurse as necessary
- Engages as the Legacy Village Special Care representative to hospital discharge planners, skilled nursing facilities, geriatric care providers, and community agencies.
- Serves as key advocate for Golden Pond’s Special Units to marketplace for community networking and public relations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Direct Supervisor of: Assistant Director of Special Care Residences, Resident Care Aides
Hours: Full time, salaried, with the ability to work weekends, evenings and flexible hours.
