Focus Academy is a charter high school and transition program for special needs students in Temple Terrace, Florida. Although we have grown since our founding in 2013, we have not forgotten the personal attention to families and students that makes our school a unique environment.
As the first point of contact for all of Focus Academy, our Administrative Assistant is arguably one of the most important positions at the school. This position is the frontline of Focus Academy. This position deals with all staff, all parents, all students, and all guests and visitors. A welcoming smile and kind and patient manner are paramount. A high level of customer service is expected.
You will provide administrative support across the organization and ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and delivered with high quality and in a timely manner. You will handle the flow of students when they are signing in as tardy or signing out for early pick up. You will ensure that all information that flows through the office is handled in a thorough and professional manner. You must be sensitive to the confidential nature of all information on students, families and personnel.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Reliability, dependability and punctuality essential.
- Attention to detail and follow through with tasks.
- Perform related clerical functions such as forms and filing.
- Assist parents, families, and staff with requests and information as needed, maintaining a customer service attitude.
- Have experience with both PC and Apple computers.
- Receive public inquiries, both personal and telephone.
- Receive and direct all telephone calls to proper personnel, taking comprehensive messages as necessary.
- Maintain general files; assemble, label and prepare material for filing and/or mailing.
- Receive and distribute office supplies.
- Multitask and prioritize projects in order of urgency, following up with appropriate staff members with updates.
- Provide general administrative support.
- Learn data processing system.
- Other duties and/or projects may be assigned.
The hours of this job are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a half hour lunch, Monday through Friday. This is a 12-month position that works through the summer with full benefits, including medical, dental and retirement.
