The Interiors Engineer reports to the Manager, Avionics, Interiors & Structures Engineering and is responsible for supporting all engineering activities related to aircraft interiors in support of the growing fleet at Breeze. This role works with a variety of internal teams to include Technical Operations, Commercial, and Brand Development Teams to ensure a reliable and diversified product offering to our Guests. Responsibilities include project management, providing engineering dispositions for in-service issues, developing standards for Breeze cabin interiors , interior and exterior cleaning programs, and other related initiatives. This position requires excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills and a solid understanding of best practices to assist in building the right processes, as well as managing relationships with OEM providers.
- Supports Technical Operations, Commercial, and Brand Team for line fit and retrofit programs while working with OEM's, Interior Component providers and product design agencies.
- Supports internal reviews, steering committee meetings to ensure alignment on projects
- Provides day-to-day support with multiple business partners and OEM's
- Works closely with Brand and Inflight Teams to gather in-service Guest experience
- Supports research initiatives including benchmarking, concept research, and product testing to inform corporate decision-making process.
- Review and respond to Airworthiness Directives (AD's) to ensure compliance with FAA, ANAC, and other regulatory agency requirements.
- Review Service Bulletins, Service Letters, modifications, and other engineering technical documents for applicability, systems reliability, and economical benefits
- Develop technical data required for modifications, repairs, and troubleshooting of aircraft interiors, and related components
- Obtain regulatory approval for modifications and repairs performed for aircraft interiors and components
- Develop customized procedures and special criteria for repairs, modifications, inspections, and other maintenance actions which are not addressed in existing manuals
- Prepare engineering documents such as Engineering Orders (EO's) to provide technical dispositions for repairs, modifications, inspections, or other maintenance actions on aircraft systems and components, which provide benefits in accordance with Breeze objectives
- Establish build specifications for aircraft interiors, exterior, and component programs.
- Provide on-site technical support at MRO locations during modification and outstations for AOG situations to return aircraft back into service
- Achieve performance measures and adhere to established standards in conjunction with Breeze Aviation Group Values of Safety, Kindness, Integrity, Ingenuity and Excellence
- 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other related Engineering field
- 5+ years of engineering experience relating to Aircraft Interiors modification
- 5+ years of experienced required in technical report writing skills to prepare test plans, test results, structural analysis substantiations, and regulatory compliance reports
- 5+ years of experience under Part 121, 135, and/or 91 as it pertains to Embraer and airbus Aircraft interiors and related systems
- Knowledge of Embraer and Airbus aircraft interiors, and systems
- Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD drawing systems
- Must pass a DOT pre-employment drug test
- Must pass a TSA required fingerprint-based criminal history records check and a Breeze background check.
- TRAX (M&E) control system
- A&P license
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate to Leadership
- Must be able to handle high-stress situations
- Able to manage and coordinate several tasks and projects simultaneously
- Ability to work with individuals and teams at all levels in the organization
