The Arc Baltimore is actively recruiting a Vehicle Mechanic to work at our Seton building located in Baltimore. As a Vehicle Mechanic your primary responsibility is to ensure that all the vehicles that are maintained or repaired in our facility are safe to operate before they are put back to service. This position will also be cross trained as necessary with the Equipment Repair division and will assist as needed.

What you ‘ll be doing:

Repair and maintain trucks, vans, cars, trailers and other types of vehicles and equipment. This includes but is not limited to:
- Scheduled engine oil/transmission oil changes.

Diagnosis of needed repairs and service with scanner.

Braking system repairs.
-
Tires and shocks replacement.
-
Exhaust repair.
-
Major and minor engine and transmission repairs.
-
Air conditioning maintenance and repair.
-
Front and rear suspension repairs.
-
Interior repairs and maintenance.
-
Emergency road service as directed by supervisor.
- Complete service records.
-
Maintain keys, registrations, and emission inspection with assistance from supervisor.

Maintain shop equipment to ensure safe, orderly, and clean conditions.
Education & Experience
-
High School Diploma or GED required.
-
3 years of experience in automotive and light truck mechanical work required.

Valid Maryland Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record required.

Welding and forklift experience is a plus
Working Conditions

At least 90% of the day is spent standing while working.

Valid Maryland driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Must pass a road test.

Must pass a D.O.T. physical on schedule provided by D.O.T.
- Must supply tools and tool box necessary to perform duties

Must provide Steel toed shoes to be worn at all times when on duty.

The position requires good physical coordination and stamina: must be able to lift 75 pounds, push, pull, and carry a variety of tools, equipment, and supplies.
- This position involves operating various power equipment (vehicle lift, air tools, wheel balancer, etc.) and handling hazardous materials (gasoline, diesel, oil solvents, paint, etc.).
