General Responsibilities
The responsibility of the Assistant Teacher is to perform all tasks according to Peach State Academy’s policies and procedures and childcare regulatory agencies. Candidates are expected to provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged, and individuality respected. The Assistant Teacher will assist in the implementation of programs that support Peach State Academy.
The Assistant Teacher will establish and maintain respectful and positive working relationships with all employees, children, and families.
A candidate must have strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and have a good understanding of age-appropriate activities for young children.
- Assist Lead Teacher with both long- and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice, and program philosophy.
- Provide input for assessment of children's development
- Maintain daily open communication with parents
- Maintain accident reports
- Maintain anecdotal records
- Maintain confidentiality
- Report any suspect abuse to supervisor
- Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment
- Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials
- Attend in-service and staff meetings
- Keep all appropriate records such as records, attendance, and timesheets.
- Meet all applicable licensing regulations
Education, Skills, and Required Work Experience
- Minimum of High School Diploma. CDA, Associates Degree in ECE/Child Development or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with children ages 6 wks - 5 years and K-5.
- Meet the minimum requirements set by the state childcare regulatory agency for the position
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Clearance as required by the state
- Demonstrate the following qualities: self-motivation, self-direction, ability to make good judgments, creativity, reliability, and dependability
- Can lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Demonstrate the ability to handle crisis situations, especially where children are involved and to respond immediately to any emergency
- Be willing to participate in continuing education as required by the childcare regulatory agency
- Maintain certification in CPR and First Aid Training

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $20.00 per hour
