To maintain electrical, control systems and/or instrumentation equipment in our chemical plant to ensure minimal downtime and regulatory compliance.
- Reliable performance of electrical, instrumentation or control systems equipment maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime and production impact
- Completing critical records and documentation of instrumentation, electrical and control systems as per the quality system and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Perform PM work plans in a safe and diligent manner
- Diagnose faults, repair, maintain or calibrate pressure, flow, level, temperature measuring instruments and control valve actuators, positioners, and solenoid valves.
- Diagnose faults, repair and maintain/calibrate final control elements and process controllers to manufacturers specifications
- Install, connect, and commission electrical equipment and measuring instruments with their relevant control devices. Allen Bradley PLC’s and Delta V DCS’s are currently used
- Conduct fault finding and repairs on defective electrical equipment including motor starters, motor control centers, panelboards, VFD’s, breakers, lighting and switches up to 480V
- Test equipment installations for continuity, insulation, and grounding, and record this in accordance with procedures and code of practice
- Afterhours call-out duty and overtime work is required of this position
- Repair, maintain and calibrate instruments and sensors for gas fired heaters
- High School / School Diploma or similar with 8 years of Electrical, Instrumentation and/or Control Systems maintenance or
- 2-year technical degree in Electrical, Control Systems or Instrumentation Technology
- 6 years plant maintenance as an I&E technician in chemical / industrial manufacturing
- 4 years’ experience in electrical power distribution / motor control systems design/installation with emphasis on hands-on practical experience
Required Personal/Professional Skills
• Direct experience with electrical maintenance of 480V 3 phase systems • Able and willing to switch 15kV electrical switches • Experience with motor control systems including VFD’s, starters and stop/ start controls • Experience with infra-red monitoring cameras, power quality analyzers, insulation resistance testers, Emerson Trex communicators, process test instruments like Fluke 789 and Fluke 725 • Experience with control loop tuning methods and techniques • Experience with Quality improvement processes, specifically ISO-9000 • Basic computer skills – Outlook, Excel, Word and opening, saving, and printing documents • Ability to interpret electrical and instrument loop drawings and to produce free hand sketches of circuits and installations • Experience working on pneumatic transmitters like the Foxboro 13AMS2 • Ability to lift at least 50lbs • Ability to climb steps and ladders and work at heights • Working in cramped or awkward positions • Able to and willing to operate an aerial lift • Must be able to wear respiratory and fall protection equipment as needed. • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision
