Overview
Catholic Charities Diocese of Venice, Inc. provides services to people of all races, backgrounds and beliefs. We offer a variety of housing and social service programs to individuals, families and communities across ten counties in Southwest Florida. The Boca Grande Preschool Teacher's Assistant may work as a floater (moving between classrooms as scheduled or needed throughout each day).
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and health of all participant children at all times.
- Maintain mandated child/staff ratios.
- Actively supervise children
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe classroom environment.
- Collaborate with classroom teacher to create and maintain a classroom schedule based on children's needs.
- Assist the classroom teacher with preparation and implementation of curriculum lesson plans.
- Assist with planning and implementation outdoor play activities.
- Assist classroom teacher with completion of developmental screenings.
- Assist classroom teacher with maintaining accurate attendance records, children's daily journals, and professional communication with families.
- Complete accident / incident reports in a professional and objective manner following BGP guidelines.
- Maintain open communication and a positive, respectful relationship with other staff and parents.
- Manage and maintain sensitive and confidential information of co-workers and families.
- Attend monthly individual reflective meetings, team meetings and quarterly in-services.
- Cover classrooms as needed when other staff are absent.
- Lead instruction based on provided lesson plans when serving as substitute.
- Provide positive guidance and re-direction to children as needed.
- As a mandated reporter, report suspicions of child abuse, neglect, or abandonment to the Florida Abuse Hotline.
- Demonstrate interest in continued learning opportunities.
- Complete annual in-service training as mandated by the Florida Department of Children & Families.
- Maintain certifications as required, including but not limited to CPR and First Aid.
Requirements:
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
- Completed or ability to complete 45 hours of mandated Childcare Training through Florida DCF in mandated timeframe.
- Excellent oral, written communication and organizational skills.
- Calm, patient, and nurturing manner.
- Ability to lift 50lbs., climb, stoop kneel, and perform cleaning of equipment and materials.
- Ability to work outdoors with children as weather permits.
- Ability to attain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
- Ability to pass FDLE Level II Background screening
